Once a month, I am lucky enough to have a three day weekend. This is such a luxury to me as with every job I’ve ever had in the past, I’ve always worked at least one weekend day. It’s so nice to have a weekend off so often, and I’m determined to make the most of them.
I hope to spend these weekends off doing fun activities, visiting my family, going on day trips with friends and just making the most out of my free time.
Last weekend, I had really hoped to fit in a visit to my grandparents. Unfortunately my grandad wasn’t feeling too well, so I didn’t get to see them. Luckily I only work one Sunday a month, so I will have another chance to visit them again soon.
My weekend was still very family orientated, and I spent lots of quality time with my loved ones.
I had the best day on Saturday. I had no real plans for the day, so I lounged around and got ready in my own time. Then I went for a bike ride by myself, it made me feel so free to be outside adventuring and doing my own thing. I have just moved to a new estate so I did a little bit of exploring, I live in a really lovely area and there are some pretty places to cycle around.
I love cycling and it felt so good to be outside, getting some fresh air and keeping fit. I cycled for about 30 minutes, but if I felt more comfortable with the area I definitely could have cycled for a whole lot longer. It’s just so much fun, it’s only this year that I have started going out on the bike again and it makes me so happy. Although you can tell I haven’t cycled in a while, everytime I reach a curb I have to get off the bike because I’m too scared to ride up the little bump. Ah, maybe one day I shall pluck up the courage!
Later on that day, I went for a Costa with my mum and sister. I ordered a Caramel Hot Chocolate with marshmallows and cream, my favourite.
My sister came back home with us and we all chilled out watching Full House, whilst dad cooked us some pasta to snack on. Dad’s always doing stuff for us, he is so lovely. Then as we were chilling, my sister announced ‘Rule The World’ had won the Grand National, which in case you didn’t know, is a horse race. ‘Rule The World’ is the horse I had betted on and I screamed so loudly when I found out that he was the winner because that meant I had won £161 with my bet. Everyone thought I had seen a spider, I made everyone jump with my excitement! I was so so happy to win, it was such an exciting moment and I went out to pick my winnings up straight away. It felt so good to win, I feel so fortunate.
I had the best day on Saturday and Sunday was pretty fantastic too.
I had a pretty chilled day for the most part of Sunday. I went shopping and bought a gorgeous new jumper and two pairs of jeggings, using my winnings from the Grand National of course. Then my parents, sister and I went for another Costa Coffee. I guess we just love Costa! It was a lovely afternoon which was followed up with a lovely evening.
Myself and my family went for dinner at Frankie and Benny’s and we had a lovely time. I absolutely love the food at Frankie and Benny’s, I ordered a cheese burger of course and it was yummy!
Mum has just been offered a permanent full time position at her workplace so I bought her a card to congratulate her, I bought my sister a card too as she is moving house soon and I also bought my dad a card just to say thanks for being a great Dad. I love giving my loved ones little cards to let them know how much I appreciate them and to celebrate their successes. Each card put a smile on my mum, dad and sisters face. If they are happy, then I am happy. It was so lovely for us to go out for dinner as a family and spend quality time together, making memories with one another. Family time is so important to me so I am truly grateful we got to spend this time together.
On Monday, my parents had work so I had the house to myself. I decided to work on my scrapbook, I’m only three pages in. Scrapbooking is so much fun, and I can’t wait to look back on all my pictures in years to come. I hope one day I have a shelf full of scrapbooks filled with happy memories.
In the evening my friend Chantal came over as we were sorting out a few bits and bobs for our friend Emily’s birthday, which has just gone. It was really nice to see Chantal and we had a fun evening together. We ended up face timing Emily, although I mostly spent the call looking at Emily’s leg because she didn’t want to show her face.
To conclude my lovely 3 day weekend, mum and dad brought home food from the chip shop. I was a bit annoyed because I ordered a chicken burger but I was given a beef burger, boo! The chips were nice though, so I can’t complain… Not too much anyway, I was really looking forward to my chicken! There will be another time I’m sure.
I enjoyed my weekend off so much, it all felt so simple yet so fulfilling, I pretty much did everything that I wanted to do. I spent quality time with my family and made memories with them, I chilled out a lot and I saw friends. What better way to spend a weekend?
