Wow, so it’s been quite a long time since I last did a monthly favourites as around a year ago now, I stopped for personal reasons. However it’s been a while and I’ve missed recapping on my favourite things each month, so here I am once again back with the favourite’s and isn’t it lovely to talk about the things that we love!? I can’t wait to share with you all what I was loving throughout October.
Let’s start with beauty…
October was filled with many new beauty products for me as I’d just got back from Florida where I treated myself to lots of new makeup from Sephora. I’ve been really loving my blushers lately and there are three included in today’s favourite’s. NAR’s Orgasm blusher is one I picked up in America and I’ve been absolutely loving it. It’s a deep pink tone with a slight hint of berry and a subtle shimmer. What I love about this blusher is how it gives skin a natural flushed appearance, as if you’ve been out walking in the cold winter weather. I love wearing Nars Orgasm blusher especially when I’ve got a darker, smoky eye or a red toned eyeshadow on.
Another blusher I used a lot throughout October is MAC’s Fairly Precious. This blush is so beautiful, being a super shimmery pink shade which gives skin a gorgeous radiant glow, lifting the face so it appears brighter.
Last but not least with the blusher love is Max Factors Seductive Pink Creme Puff blush. Don’t let the name fool you, it’s not a cream formula, it’s a baked powder and its gorgeous. It’s mixed toned so there are hints of soft and dark pink shades, which can be built up to give the face a deeper colour. What I like about this blusher is that it’s more matte compared to the other two, so I’ve enjoyed wearing it on days I want to be more natural and less shimmery!
In keeping with the face products, one thing I couldn’t get enough of last month was the Anastasia Beverly Hills AURORA Glow Kit, which is the perfect highlighting palette for me because it’s also the name of one of my favourite Disney princesses! The palette feautures six beautiful colours perfect for strobing and they’re all incredibly effective as they’re not your typical shades. You’ve got Spectra, which is a crazy cool purple toned highlight perfect for creating that Unicorn glow, then Orion which is a blue toned highlight ideal for that Ice Queen look. My two favourite shades from the palette have to be Lyra, which is a stunning gold highlight and Eclipse which is more of a baby pink toned highlight however I love all of the shades and get plenty of use from each and every one of them. There’s a colour for every look and every occasion, they’re all brilliantly pigmented and gorgeously sparkly and I don’t think there’s a lot more I could want from a highlighting palette really. It’s pretty fantastic.
Moving onto eyes, last month I started using a new mascara and a new eyeliner which I’ve completely fallen in love with. Max Factor’s LASH CROWN mascara was launched in October and I’ve been using it everyday since I got my hands on one. It gives lashes length, lift and volume and you can apply a little for a more natural look or really build it up for darker, more intense lashes. I’ve included a one eye on, one eye off photo below so you can really see the difference lash crown makes to my lashes.
The eyeliner I loved the most in October was by far Kat Von D’s tattoo liner in the shade Trooper, your typical black liner shade. This is a pen eyeliner which is so simple to use. It’s just so easy to control and makes getting that perfect cat eye flick so easy. The pen is pretty thin and narrow which is great because you get the best of both worlds, you can create a really thin line for a more natural look or apply more product for a thicker, bolder look, perfect for every occasion. Another great thing about this liner is that it’s waterproof so it lasts all day, but it’s easy to remove with a good makeup remover.
Lastly for my beauty favourite’s I have to mention LUSH’s Halloween range which I have been enjoying thoroughly these past couple of weeks. You can check out a few of my product reviews here, here and here but overall my favourite Halloween products have definitely been the Bewitched Bubble Bar, the Lord Of Misrule bath bomb and the Pumpkin bubble bar. I’ve made sure to stock up so I’ve got some to last me until next year.
With all my beauty favourite’s done, it’s time to move onto the more random favourites.
I’ll start with my favourite book of last month which was A Tale As Old As Time by Liz Braswell. I could not get enough of this book and by the last few chapters I ended up staying awake until just before 2am so I could finish it. I could not put it down. Tale As Old As Time is a spin off of Disneys Beauty and the Beast with a darker plot twist and a whole new take on the story. It was totally not what I expected at all and I mean that in a good way, I was completely in awe of the story and I would highly recommend the book. It’s brilliant. There are two other stories in the twisted tales range including spin offs of Aladdin and Sleeping Beauty. I have just purchased the Sleeping Beauty spin off this week because after reading a tale as old as time, I just couldn’t wait to read a book similar.
Finally on TV I have been obsessed with Dinner Date. Has anybody ever seen this show? Basically it’s where one guy or gal chooses three menus out of five which they think sounds most delicious, then they go on a blind date with the three people who have created said menus. In the end the dater has to choose one of the three date-ees to take out on a proper date where they don’t have to cook. It’s so simple but brilliant and what I like about the show is how it’s all in one episode. You don’t have to spend hours watching it to find out who won the date! I seriously can’t get enough.
What were your October favourites? Have you used any of the products I mentioned above? What’s your favourite tv show at the moment? Let me know in the comments below.
Thank you all for reading,
