Weekend Highlights | Friendship and Family Time

Hey lovelies, where has the past week gone? It feels like only yesterday I was writing last weeks weekend highlights. Madness.

The past weekend was another filled with love, friendship and all of my favourite people.

On Friday evening, I went into my local Boots store for a NYX makeup masterclass. As I used to work with the NYX girls I consider them very good friends of mine, and they invited me in store to ‘model’ for them, as they used my face for a glam makeup demo. I always love when the NYX girls do my makeup, they are all such talented makeup artists and help to make me look my very best. I am for sure going in to have my makeup done by the girls this weekend before my night out because they make me look soooo good. Even though I am a qualified makeup artist myself, I still love having my makeup done by others.

NYX’s makeup masterclass was super interesting and I actually feel as though I learnt a lot. For example, if your primer base and foundation bases are different (silicone & water based for example) they may not be compatible / work well together. I found this really interesting as lately my Mum has been struggling with her base makeup and I had an inkling it was because her primer and foundation weren’t a good match. After the masterclass my suspicions were confirmed. The foundation and primer she’s using clearly aren’t compatible. I’ll have to sort her out with some new makeup for sure!

After the masterclass I went for dinner with Elaine, who works for NYX, and Charlotte, who used to work for NYX. We went for a Nandos and managed to bag a free starter thanks to Charlotte’s charms! I got Halloumi sticks and Elaine and Charlotte had free pitta. I had the nicest evening with my girlies and it felt so good to catch up with them. I am thankful that even though the three of us don’t work together anymore, we still keep in touch and spend time together. The girls friendship means so much to me, it was brilliant to spend time with them.

On Saturday, I went for a walk with my mama and finally reunited with my bestie who has been on holiday for the past two weeks. It was a lovely day.

Mum and I went for a walk in the early afternoon and we decided to explore somewhere different, although where we went actually turned out to be a different part of Ouzel Valley Park where we normally go. I didn’t realise it was quite so big. This area of OVP was somewhere neither of us had been before and I was truly in love with the beauty of the walk. It was magnificent. Walking through the lakes filled with extraordinary reeds you’d never believe we were in the middle of a city. It goes to show there are so many naturally beautiful places in this world, closer to home than one may think. On our walk we saw cows (my fave) and lots of wildlife including the cutest baby toads! The little baby toads were everywhere by the lake, we had to tread so carefully when we discovered them as obviously, we didn’t want to tread on them. But there were so many, I’ve never seen anything like it. It was truly like being in a nature wonderland.

After our walk, we went home and I got ready to go and meet my best friend for dinner. Emily only got back from her holiday on Friday so this was my first time seeing her in what felt like forever! It was so great to catch up and she made my day as she bought me back the cutest souvenirs from her trip including a shot glass, postcards and a little sugar skull. I am so happy my bestie is back in the UK, I missed her so much whilst she was away and now I am super excited to be spending more time with her. We are going to see Mamma Mia 2 this Thursday, bring it on!

On Sunday, my parents and I travelled to Wiltshire to see my brother, sister in law and nephew to celebrate his fourth birthday. Aw, my nephew is just the cutest! I love him and his smile so much, he honestly means the world to me. Spending time with my nephew is just my favourite and I’m so happy I got to see him yesterday. We had fun playing with all his toy cars (he has sooo many) and painting together. It was lovely to spend quality time with my family, and I am so excited for future visits to Wiltshire to spend more time with my loved ones.

Today I am just chilling out, I have a driving lesson later this evening but other than that there’s not a lot else going on. Just relaxing after a lovely weekend.

I have had such a gorgeous Summery weekend with my loved ones, I adored my walk with my mama, loved being reunited with my bestie, enjoyed spending time with my (ex)work girlies and had so much fun celebrating my nephews birthday with my fam. Roll on next weekend!

What did you get up to over the weekend? What were your weekend highlights? Let me know in the comments below.

Thank you all for reading,

  1. You look beautiful after the NYX makeover! Wow! How do you know what your foundation & primer base is?? That’s so interesting that they need to be compatible though I usually don’t use primer anyhow.

So nice that you got free starters! I love Pita & those halloumi sticks look to die for. So does that waffle!! Oh & happy birthday to your nephew! You both are adorable. 😄

    1. Aw thanks so much lovely. That’s so kind of you. I think it should be in the ingredients so check the back of the product – normally the dominant ingredient will be the first one listed so that’s usually whatever the base is. Yes it is! Makes makeup shopping slightly more technical LOL. Oh do you not? I can’t wear makeup without primer!
Aw yes I was so happy with the freebie hehe. Pitta is delicious isn’t it? And the waffle was soo good! Thanks so much lovely xx

      1. Oh duh! I should’ve known it would be in the ingredients, haha. I only use primer when I get a sample in one of my sub boxes but I DO see how it can improve the ease of applying makeup!

  2. What a fun weekend you had! I love that you got to go to a NYX masterclass! And girl you looked gorgeous after! And you got to love free food! :p Spending time with good friends is the best and I am so happy you got to reunite with your bestie! I love that you got to go for a walk and spend time with your Mom and then with your brother SiL and nephew! Oh my heart he is the absolute cutest! This epcitrues alone gave me all the feels! I hope you are having an amazing week beauty! ❤

  3. That’s so interesting about the primer and foundation, I’ll have to look into mine. Most of my primers are silicon based so I wonder if my foundations are not….??
Anyway, you look absolutely beautiful after that make over. I’ve never had my makeup done by any professional or qualified makeup artist lol. That would be an interesting experience but I’m also afraid that i won’t like what they end up doing to my face because i don’t normally cake my face with makeup lol.
And what a fun weekend!!! I miss goin out for walks, I mean I’ve been hiking but just a simply walk through a park is what I’ve been missing lol.

    1. Isn’t it. It makes a lot of sense but I never knew the technical side before, now I know how to tell whether things go or not. Yes you will have to have a look, it’s very interesting.
Aw thank you so much Rossy, that’s ever so kind of you! Oh my gosh it’s so relaxing, I will do it for you exactly how you like it! Make sure you go with someone that you trust for sure. Most people will listen to what you have to say and do your makeup how you want it, but there are some people out there who just do what they want – avoid those people unless you want a surprise or something LOL. But you don’t need anybody else to do your makeup for you anyway hun, you’re perfectly talented as you are.
Yeah casual walks are good fun, There’s still so many weeks of Summer left, you’ve got time.
Thanks for your comment hun x

      1. I’ll have to look at my foundation ingredients because that tip is probably the best one I’ve ever heard of lol game changer!!
No problem doll! And that’s very true, my mom’s wedding makeup artist did NOTHING that my mom asked for, she caked her face with foundation that was too orange on her, didnt even match her neck, and the contour looked muddy, her eyebrows were literally black and she had very light brown / reddish brown hair.. and her eyeshadow….Oh nooo!! I don’t claim to have that much skills on makeup but her eyeshadow was not blended!! My poor mom ended up taking off all the makeup lol. That wasn’t worth it. Lol. But thanks girl!! I got a lot of work to do and I don’t really get to practice every day either so I feel like I’m missing out on honing those skills lol.

      2. Yess! I know I was so happy when I found out! I’m glad I decided to share the tip 😂
Oh gosh that sounds awful! Did your mum do a wedding trial beforehand for the makeup? Thats so stupid though, this girl can’t have had any qualifications, your poor mum! 😦 did she have a nice wedding day though?? Thats what matters I guess! I would have been devastated though. Luckily I know loads of amazing mua’s who I could trust otherwise I would just do my makeup myself!
Well practice makes perfect and I think you’re incredibly talented as it is! You don’t need any more practice 😋

      3. No she did not, apparently she had asked the girl, but the girl never showed and practically swore she knew what my mom wanted. Aside from that fiasco, yes, my mom did have a beautiful wedding, of course both of her children (my brother and I) were there along with her first grandchild so she had an amazing day 🙂
        Thanks girl! ❤
