E.L.F Flawless Finish Foundation First Impressions and Review

Hey huns! How is everybody today? I hope everybody is having a great day and week!

Today I have a BEAUTY related post, which feels like the first one in forever? I think my last beauty post was a Lush bath bomb review back in May and I can’t even remember my last makeup related post. This one is long overdue.

I’ve recently become more conscious about what type of beauty products I’m buying, and making more of a decision and an effort to shop cruelty free brands. With so many options on the market, it makes sense to shop with these brands as opposed to the ones which aren’t, and considering I needed a new foundation recently it seemed to be the perfect time to find myself a CF one.

I went online to find out which CF brands you can buy in Boots (I had advantage card points to use), and discovered E.L.F to be one of these. I used to use E.L.F back when I was a teenager and always loved the brand back then, and at that time you could only shop their products online. Now, you can actually buy E.L.F products in store which is great as when it comes to makeup, especially foundation, you wanna be able to try before you buy.

With no further research on the E.L.F foundations other than the fact they’re cruelty free, I went into Boots and decided I liked the look of the Flawless Finish Foundation. After a quick DIY colour match, I chose the shade Vanilla and made my purchase.

My first thoughts when applying this foundation were yay! It’s a pump applicator. This is my preferred choice of application design when it comes to foundation so naturally, this foundation already gets a yes from me.

To apply my foundation, I always start by applying a little product to the back of my hand followed by dotting it onto my face and blending it in. When I first pumped this product onto my hand, I thought the texture seemed ever so slightly watery but I think maybe I just needed to shake the product a bit more before using. At first touch, the foundation felt really soft which was nice but once applied, I could feel it sitting on my skin. Therefore I wouldn’t describe this foundation as lightweight however after a couple of hours wear, it doesn’t feel noticeable like you are wearing foundation. On initial application Flawless Finish does have a heavier feel to it, but thankfully that does wear off.

The thing I am most impressed with with Flawless Finish is the coverage. After just one application the coverage looked really good and I had achieved a medium cover finish, which is great for a solo application and I wouldn’t necessarily always feel the need to apply another layer with this, it’s good with just the one.

With a second layer of foundation applied, I had achieved an even fuller coverage so I would describe Flawless Finish as a medium – full buildable foundation with a smooth finish.

With a nice demi matte finish to this foundation, I was really pleased with the overall look I had achieved.

I am really impressed with my first try of the E.L.F Flawless Finish foundation, and it’s a product I am definitely looking forward to using again. So far, I really like it. I would definitely repurchase this foundation, however I would also be interested in trying other CF foundations from different brands to see which one I love the most so stay tuned for some more reviews and first impressions coming your way. Overall I am impressed with this product, I would purchase it again and I would recommend it to those who are looking for a good coverage, demi matte cruelty free foundation.

Have you used any of E.L.F’s products before? What Cruelty Free foundation do you recommend I try next? Let me know in the comments below.

*You can buy E.L.F Flawless Finish foundation online here or in store at Boots or Superdrug*

Thank you all for reading,

love and light,

  1. I love that you’re buying cruelty free now, Jennie! I’m making sure that my new beauty products are cruelty-free as well! I’ve been using Nyx’s “Stay Matte but not Flat” foundation for a while and I’m loving it! Plus, they are very inexpensive!

    1. Thanks Courtney. I’m exactly the same. Which is quite frustrating because I have so many hero products that are not cruelty free but HEY it’s just an opportunity for me to discover even better ones right? Ooh I was so happy when I found out NYX are CF! Thank goodness honestly! That’s great you are loving that foundation, I think that may be the next one I try! Thanks for recommending it! And yes you’re right, NYX and ELF are really affordable brands. I can’t wait to try more. Thanks for stopping by Courtney ❤️

      1. That’s true and it’s shame because so many non-CF brands actually work really well. BUT, I don’t want to hurt animals just to have a makeup product, you know? Poor things. :/ I’m excited to see what products you find!! ❤

  2. I love that you researched CF brands & got one!! ❤ The foundation does look really nice on you, I hate a heavy feeling on my face but that's awesome that it eventually goes away. Thanks for your review, Jennie!! ❤

    1. Thank you Hunida, and it was definitely inspired by you that I did so so thank you! I know, it wasn’t great that it felt heavy but like I said, thankfully it did wear off. It’s still definitely not the most light weight foundation, but it does soften for sure. Thanks for commenting Hunida!

      1. Aw wow! That means so much that I helped inspire you to look into buying more CF products. ❤ E.L.F. is so affordable so that's okay if it isn't really the best!

  3. An impressive share! I’ve just forwarded this onto a friend who had been doing a little research on this. And he in fact ordered me lunch simply because I discovered it for him… lol. So allow me to reword this…. Thanks for the meal!! But yeah, thanks for spending the time to talk about this matter here on your blog.
