Welcome To My Bookshelf Currently Reading & TBR

Hello my loves and welcome back to my… bookshelf! Oh surprise, I didn’t say blog. 😉

Well today we have the second instalment in my ‘welcome to my bookshelf’ series and in this post I’m going to be giving you a little insight into what I’m currently reading and the books that are next up on my to be read pile. With one of those books needing to be started ASAP.

Right now I’m currently reading the fantastic book ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ by Elizabeth Gilbert. This is a non fiction book written by Elizabeth about her own travel adventures from Italy to India to Indonesia, and ultimately about her own journey of self discovery. From the moment I started reading ‘Eat Pray Love’ I felt a connection and the story resonated with me immediately. Be careful though, this book will make you want to pack your bags and set off on your own self discovery journey asap, so you better be prepared for the travel bug to hit once you start reading this book.

I’m currently on the second part of Elizabeth’s journey, which sees her in India, although here I’ve come to a bit of a stand still. At the moment I’m in a chick lit genre type of mood which this book just isn’t. This book is deep, meaningful, amazing, insightful and an incredible journey, but one I need to be in the right mood to follow along with. Currently, I’m in the mood for lighthearted Summer reads and whilst Eat Pray Love is a fascinating story with so much to offer, at the moment it’s on the back burner for a little bit. It’s still obviously on my ‘currently reading’ list at the moment though because I am making my way through it, just at a very slow pace. I’m so looking forward to picking up where I left off with this book again soon, as writing about it has got me feeling in the mood to read! I’ve seen the film version of Eat Pray Love too which was great but I’ve definitely connected more with the book. Hey, if you’ve seen the film adaption but not read the book yet, why don’t you pick a copy up and have a read? You might even catch up with me and we can read along together. Then go straight to lastminute.com and book our flights to Rome. Who’s with me? Hehe!

The second book I’m ‘currently reading’ is One Summer In Paris by Sarah Morgan. This book is taking a backseat for the moment because I have another novel I’m making my priority however so far so good and I look forward to reviewing this book for you very soon. And to reading the book of course, I can’t wait to explore Paris through the pages of Sarah Morgan’s writing.

EF1FF442-9B4D-4154-B252-AC3C68668B77Finally, on my current to be read pile and the book that’s taking number one priority in my life right now is I Heart Vegas by Lindsey Kelk. This is the fourth book in Lindsey’s ‘I Heart’ series and I am so excited to read it. I’ve just finished reading I Heart Paris which was excellent, and I am totally hooked on these books and need to know what happens next asap. The I Heart books are a lighthearted, humorous, adventurous, chick lit series which I can’t get enough of. I finished I Heart Paris in a matter of days and I’ve no doubt I’ll speed through Vegas too. Especially considering I’m hoping to go there next year, this’ll be the perfect book to put me in the mood! Vegas Baby! I’m 100% going to be reviewing the whole I Heart series here on the blog for you once I’ve finished them myself (which will probably be pretty soon, although I’m not too looking forward to when that day comes because I don’t want these books to end *sad face*, I don’t know what I’ll do with myself). I love how the I Heart books are always set in different locations, so you get to explore the world as you read and they include the perfect mix of romance, friendship, travel, adventure and humour. I think the I Heart series is the best chick lit series I’ve come across so far, so props to Lindsey Kelk. I’m excited to read more of her books both within the I Heart series and others, starting with I Heart Vegas. Stay tuned for the reviews…

What book/s are you currently reading? What’s your favourite genre of book? Have you read Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat Pray Love, seen the film, or both? Be sure to let me know all your thoughts, currently readings and tbr’s in the comments below!

Thank you all for reading my post,

I hope one day one of my books happens to be on somebody’s currently reading or tbr piles (with good reviews of course)!

Have a fantastic weekend,

Lots of love,

  1. I’m currently reading the third book in the ‘Girl’ series by Lindsay Kelk called A Girl’s Best Friend. I’m enjoying her writing style 🙂 I’ve seen Eat, Pray, Love but haven’t read it.

  2. I havent heard of these, except maybe Eat, Pray, Love. I wasnt aware it had a film adaptation though I also cant quite say I’m shocked because most books now a days are getting adapted into movies since Hollywood has run out of original ideas lol.
As of right now I’ve only read one book. Astrophysics for People in a Hurry by Neil Degrasse Tyson lol. I had gotten another book but because I didnt read quickenough, I have to return them to the library now. So I’m forced to find another book in the mean time lol.

    1. Yes! The film adaption came out a long while ago I think. I guess it’s a good thing in some ways since some people may not enjoy reading so much. Ooh wow that sounds like a very interesting book! Did you enjoy it? Oh no! Library’s are great but you do have to rush to read the books, especially when you take a lot out

      1. I prefer reading the book first, because that’s the ORIGINAL work lol. In fact, I am loving the HP books better than the movies and I LOOOOVE the movies. 😀
Yes I did like the astrophysics book, only because it felt like a review for me as I had taken the class in college, so it was very fun to read, definitely for beginners as well.
And I got The Great Gatsby because I need to wait for another one to arrive from another library LOL. I swear all the books I want are checked out 😦

  3. I love the idea of sharing what you’re reading as if we are just looking at your bookshelf!! I know Eat, Pray, Love is very popular here in the States, but I haven’t heard of the other books! I haven’t read at all since we moved and I feel just awful about it. I feel like I never have time to just sit down and relax anymore, but I need to make the time! You’ve inspired me, lol.

    1. Hahaha I’ve never normally been like this but now clearly I am 😂 I think if I’m really into a book then I speed through it but if not, I will leave it on the back burner! I love reading though! You can never be reading too many books hehe! Xx

  4. I love your nail color in these photos! I can’t believe I’ve never watched or read Eat, Pray, Love. I hear so many good things about that story!

The second book has such a pretty cover & OMG I am freaking out!!! I can’t wait to meet you next year when you visit Vegas. Looking forward to your reviews on these books, Jennie!

      2. For sure! I definitely think you’d like it! Maybe start with the film because it’s a little more casual. The book is amazing but at some points does take some getting into / you have to be in the mood for it! It’s incredible when you do read it though!

Omg really! Thank you hun! And you can show me all your fave spots in Vegas ❤️ You totally don’t have to do the coaster if you’re afraid! Thanks hun ❤️
