Hi my babes and welcome back to my blog. Happy August! Who’s excited for this month? I so am. I have a good feeling about this one and trust that it will be filled with blessings upon blessings. I am looking forward to every moment of August and I can’t wait to reflect on the month here with you on the blog once it’s up, but first to appreciate every second as it comes.
Being that it’s the first of the month I thought what better way to start August off than with a self love tag? My theme in my personal life this year pretty much has been all about self love and that has been reflected here in my blog posts a few times too. I have some more self love inspired posts coming ASAP, so today I’m looking forward to kicking off alllll of the self love vibes in abundance with The Self Love tag which I found through this blog here. Enjoy!
The Self Love Tag
1. What does self love mean to you?
Being kind to yourself, speaking kindly to yourself, forgiving yourself when you don’t feel perfect and treating yourself the way you’d treat a friend. You’d never be so hard on any of your friends when they are struggling or make a mistake, so I like to talk to myself like I would a friend if I have to give myself a little pep talk or a boost and I’d give advice to myself as I would to a loved one. To me self love means everything, it’s what I believe is one of the most important things in life and will carry you strongly through everything and ultimately help you manifest the life you desire because your self love will just show you how worthy you are of all the good things, so there are no limiting beliefs holding you back telling you you’re not good enough.
2. What is your favourite way to pamper yourself?
Skincare, reading, relaxing in the bath and meditating. Sometimes some of these things can feel like a chore (removing all my makeup and completing my skincare routine before bed for example), but ultimately they are my favourite forms of self love because I’m taking care of myself and my body and I always feel so good for it afterwards. I also love to sit back and chill with a snack and watch a good movie on Netflix, or have a little read in bed. Basically, my favourite way to pamper myself is just doing whatever it is I enjoy doing and what will make me happy at the time.
3. What are your three favourite hobbies / past times that make your soul feel on fire?
1. Singing and dancing in my bedroom. I used to ‘perform’ all the time in my living room and I still enjoy a sing and a dance now when I’m home alone, be that in my room or in the living room. It’s fun, I love dancing and it raises my vibration.
2. Singing in the shower, gosh, I should have been a performer.
3. Reading. As you may know, I adore reading, it’s one of my absolute favourite hobbies. I just really enjoy reading and I am so totally grateful to have a passion for books.
Bonus hobbies / passions: Writing, blogging, cycling and singing in the car with loved ones. I say bonus like they aren’t all equal with 1,2 and 3. All of these hobbies mean a lot to me, except maybe cycling as currently I don’t even own a bike. But I do love it. Oh, and I love relaxing in the jacuzzi and sauna too… I have so many hobbies, hehe!
4. What movie always puts you in a good mood when you’re not in the greatest mood?
Anything feel good (obviously), I love the film Walking On Sunshine and of course Mamma Mia. Any chick flick like Girls Trip or Isn’t It Romantic are always winners too. I love a good comedy also, but at the moment I can’t think of any off the top of my head, although Mike and Dave Needs Wedding Dates had me laughing out loud so that should probably go on my good vibes movie list, it’s so funny! I’m gonna have to watch that one again soon but essentially, any chick flick or comedy. Now I’m in the mood to watch a film…
5. Who do you trust so much that you would easily believe in anything and everything they said?
My Mum. Without a doubt, she is my hero and I trust her with my whole life. I feel bursts of gratitude for her often as I know with her, I can get through absolutely anything and she will always be by my side. Cue the tears please, I just love her so much. What an incredible woman. Also the counsellor who I visit every now and then is amazing and I trust her such a lot too, she always calms me and guides me and I always feel aligned after visiting her, she always has the right thing to say and I trust in her words that I am safe and everything is going to work out for me. If I ever need reassurance from an outsiders perspective or some guidance on general life business, she’s my lady!
6. What quote totally motivates you?
As someone who is a huge lover of quotes I’m at a loss here. Perhaps ‘Do something today that your future self will thank you for’, as you can’t get more motivating than that. I also love the quote ‘Have courage and be kind’ which motivates and inspires me to be the best, most kindest me I can be. Thank you Cinderella.
7. When was the last time you took yourself on a date? What did you do?
Far too long ago. In fact, the only dates I’ve ever really taken myself on are ‘walking dates’ and a couple of gym/ swim/ sauna sessions. I’ve wanted to take myself somewhere nice for a while now but it just hasn’t happened yet, in the next couple of weeks I will make it a priority for sure to take myself out on a ‘me’ date.
8. What makeup or beauty products make you feel a million bucks?
At the moment I’m loving simple, natural looks. A little bit of mascara, foundation and MAC’s Extra Dimension Fairly Precious blush which gives me the nicest glow and I’m good to go. Of course without a doubt I always love wearing a red lippie and glam gold eye look too.
9. What is the last thing you did for someone that made you feel amazing?
How can I not answer this question? Why am I struggling to think of anything? I need to up my game pronto! I guess I helped to throw a surprise party for my sister and her partners engagement so let’s say that. It’s definitely inspired me to do more kind gestures as much as possible and shower my loved ones with love always.
10. Do you feel comfortable with and without makeup on?
11. What piece of advice would you give a child about to grow up with the pressures of today’s media and its crushing expectations?
Love yourself, love yourself, love yourself. Focus on you. Let self love be the foundation for all things in your life. Start with self love first and let the rest follow.
12. What song puts you in a good mood everytime?
Anything by The Beach Boys!! They are the best high vibe, feel good band ever and I can’t wait to see them live next year… manifesting it ;).
13. What is the best advice someone gave you or you realized about life?
14. Who makes you giggle like a giggle monster?
Oh my gosh this question. ‘Giggle monster’, I love that! My friends, family, work colleagues. They all make me laugh! I do feel like it’s been far too long since I’ve had a good tear inducing laughter session though so I have to say, funny times- PENDING.
15. What is something about society that bugs you that you wish didn’t?
I’mma skip this question because it seems too negative… especially for a self love tag. Good vibes please!
16. What is one of your favorite things to do on the weekends?
Adventure! Day trips with my friends and family, yes please. I love going to London, or any other activity that’s fun to do. I enjoy making the most of my life and having fun exploring or participating in fun activities.
17. What is something you’re really proud of that you’ve done?
I am proud of all that I have overcome. I am proud of where I’m at in life, I’m proud of my passions and ambitions, I’m proud of my blog, I’m proud of my dedication to my passions, I am proud of the person I am though I’m not perfect, I have a good heart and I aim to become my best self every single day, living a life of pure love and kindness. I am proud of who I am, and of the person I aspire to be. She is coming.
18. What is one of your favorite memories with one of your friends?
Ooh I have so many beautiful memories with my friends. One of my favourites would have to be Electroland with my best friend Emily, which was a music festival hosted at Disneyland Paris to celebrate their 25th birthday. It was epic and honestly one of the best experiences of my life. To read about so many of my wonderful, fun, exciting adventures with my friends I’ll leave a few links below. Here are some of my favourite memories-
19. What advice would you give to someone who needs a confidence boost?
You are beautiful. Take back YOUR power and live your best life, believing in yourself. Ultimately, the world can love you in abundance but none of that matters if you aren’t in love with yourself. See the beauty in you. Love yourself, you are you. You owe it to yourself to see your beauty. It’s your life and the Universe made you perfect just the way you are. Sit down, take some time out to write a love letter to yourself. A letter including all the things you love about yourself, a letter to yourself celebrating all you have achieved and all you are. If you don’t want to write a letter, write a list of all your fantastic qualities. Repeat self love affirmations, do something which makes you happy, do something which makes you feel good. Keep believing in you and trust that it is your life and you’ve got the power to make it the best, and you have to fall in love with yourself because you deserve it Beautiful. You deserve that. Keep telling yourself you’re good enough because you are.
20. Lastly, how do you plan on investing in self love?
I plan to continue with my self love affirmations, listening to self love tracks and of course following my own advice and writing my own self love letters to myself every now and then, as I haven’t written one in a while. I’ve just started mirror work which is something I learnt about through this youtube video and so far, it’s incredible and powerful so I am super excited to continue this. *Briefly, mirror work is where you talk to yourself in the mirror, telling yourself positive loving affirmations such as ‘I love you’ ‘you are beautiful’ ‘we deserve happiness and love’ etc, whatever feels good to you. I think this is a fantastic way to practice self love and really raise your vibrations, especially if you do this at the start of your day when you’re getting ready in the morning so already looking in the mirror. Today, I spoke to myself lovingly through mirror work as I waited for my toner to settle in before applying my moisturiser. I intend to practice and implement self love into my life every single day and I am so excited to fall more and more in love with me as life goes on.
Of course, I tag everyone reading this blog post to take part in the Self Love tag because I think it’s a beautiful tag we could all enjoy and gain a lot from, so if you wish to participate in this tag then for sure get involved, I’d love to read your answers.
