Welcome To My Bookshelf | What I’ve Read February & March 2020 + Currently Reading

Hey babes, welcome back to my blog and my bookshelf!

Today, I will be recapping everything that I read throughout February & March, along with a little about what I’m currently reading. In the past couple of months, I have surely not read as much as I’d have liked to, but this month I’m sure I’m going to read so much more. I have a few new books on the way which I’m excited about, and still plenty on my current ‘to be read’ pile, so without further ado, let’s get into what I read throughout February & March.

Enjoy!

What I Read February & March 2020

Summer Nights At The Moonlight Hotel – Jane Costello

F28323A9-CCC2-4F3F-9D9F-3912301A9999

I love this book but I will say it comes with a trigger warning, sensitive topics are discussed, along with important topics which need to be discussed yet which are also sensitive – trigger warnings are as follows – this book touches on loss of loved one/s and revenge porn.

This is my second time reading this book and just like the first time, I loved it. I don’t know if it hit the spot quite like the first time but then again, sometimes the first time is the best time! This is the book which introduced me to Jane Costello as an author, and now she is one of my go to’s for a good chick lit read. I love her! Summer Nights is a beautiful book, with magical settings and magical vibes, there’s romance and friendship and gorgeous locations, plus lots of quality plot content which definitely has you wanting to keep turning the page to find out what happens next!

Rating 4/5, I definitely recommend!

Everything I Know About Love – Dolly Alderton

9A871DBB-1DFE-485F-8FC7-BE006D841C3D

Oh this book feels like home, it warms my heart. I miss it now I’ve finished it, I miss Dolly, I miss reading about her life, her adventures. This book is heartwarming. ‘Everything I Know About Love’ is Dolly’s own personal life story, in her own words. It’s raw, emotional, honest, open and relatable. It’s like a young woman’s bible, it makes you realise you’re not alone. We are all in this crazy, magical, amazing thing called life together. Nobody is alone.

This book is one of the best I’ve ever read, and I highly recommend. It is emotional, and there are hard, emotional topics discussed, again a TRIGGER WARNING here, and I am going to talk about the trigger now – this book talks about loss & death. It made my heart break, it made me cry, but it was also so, so beautiful. The friendship, the love. This is a book which demonstrates just how valuable our friendships are, it reminded me how freakin’ lucky I am to have the friends I do, my family, my life long loves. I appreciate them everyday, but this book warmed my heart as it made me think about my girls, and our incredible friendships. I am so excited for a lifetime of adventures and love with them.

Though this book made me cry, it also made me genuinely laugh out loud. This book is funny, interesting, a page turner. There’s not one thing I would change about it!

5/5. I am so grateful to Dolly for sharing.

Currently Reading

The Secret – Rhonda Byrne

824362AA-83EA-48E2-875E-CF7212221B08

I’m reading a chapter of this book every morning (mostly) as it’s a goal of mine to read a Spiritual / Self help / Consciousness expanding / Law Of Attraction type of book every morning, the goal is one chapter a morning at least. I started with The Secret, which I’ve read before at least the once but I’m sure it’s been more times. This is a great book to welcome you into the world of the Law Of Attraction and one I would say is a must read! I feel great reading it again, giving myself a refresher and reminder of the importance of the Law Of Attraction. I love it!

The Complete Book Of US Presidents – Bill Yenne

1F8094FA-B2F3-4D2B-9639-7CEF56956CA7

I say ‘currently reading’ but I’ve not picked this book up in a long time!!! I’m three presidents in (George Washington, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson) so I need to pick this book up again soon and learn more!! I love all things USA!

In January’s ‘What I Read’ I mentioned that I was currently reading ‘You Are A Badass At Making Money’ by Jen Sincero. Well, I’ve kind of put that book to one side for now hence why I haven’t mentioned it in either of this months ‘What I Read’ or ‘Currently Reading’. I only have an ebook edition of this book and I prefer reading physical copies, so I’m sure this is one I’ll pick up and read again when I’ve purchased the paperback. I look forward to it.

Have you read any of the books mentioned in this post? What are you currently reading? What do you recommend I add to my ‘tbr’ pile? Please do let me know all your thoughts in the comments below.

As always thank you so much for reading,

with lots of love and light,

Jennie

❤️

    1. Ah it’s the book which got me into her! When I first read it I put it up there as one of my top books I’ve read! I still think it’s fab but the first time I read it was just that little bit more special! I’ve read quite a few of her books but I’m going to have a reread also so I’ll let you know which others to try if you fancy! Yes discovering new authors is so fun! Hope you enjoy the book if you read it, thanks for commenting hun xx

  3. I might add that Jane Costello book. I’m sure I’ve heard her name before lol.
I am supposed to be reading for at least one hour every day or if I can, 100 pages per day (not always possible). I really liked the fact that I had this goal of reading 60 books but I think I’ll have to be realistic and set it much lower and hopefully read at least 30 books. If I get closer to a smaller goal I can always raise it based on how I feel but I doubt I can read 60 books even though I’m at home. Lol. Been trying to do other things with my boys anyway.

    1. Ooooh yes do it!!! I hope you enjoy. The friendships in the book are so cute & of course love the romance hehe ❤ I wonder where you've heard of her from!

Oh that's a wonderful goal Rossy! Love that soo much!!! Good luck, it's amazing you've even set that intention. 30 books is A lot!! Exactly – keep it to what you know you can achieve then you'll only exceed ❤ Ahh yes – you want to make the most of this time with them ❤ I'm sure you can get the best of both, spending time with your boys and having a good read ❤

      1. I don’t know? I might have come across her name somewhere in a review, Goodreads or maybe some books while browsing. I just know this is not the first time I’ve heard her name lol.
Yes exactly 🙂 I’m already having a hard time that adding extra load to my life doesn’t seem very far LOL

  4. Ooo, Summer Nights has such a pretty & elegant cover I wasn’t expecting it to be so juicy. Revenge porn?! Yikes!! Might have to add that to my TBR. 😉 I also love a good memoir. I’ll be adding Dolly’s book, too. It’s always the best when you actually miss the character after finishing! & wow, you really can’t judge a book by its cover. I thought The Secret would be some sort of fantasy novel lol not a self-help one!

Thank you for sharing what you’ve been reading, Jennie!! ❤
