The Inspiring Blogger Award | July 2020

Hello everyone!

It is with gratitude & joy that I am taking part in the ‘Inspiring Blogger Award’ which I was nominated for by my beautiful, good friend Xandria. I met Xandria this year through an online blogging party hosted by Jirah, so it’s a massive shoutout to you Jirah for hosting this party. I am grateful for both your friendship and Xandria’s. Be sure to follow both of these wonderful humans here, and here.

Let’s get into the questions!

What surprised you about blogging? – I’m actually not sure… maybe how much it would become such a passion of mine? Growing up, I used to make YouTube videos and I guess I would have wanted to be a YouTuber… but for some reason, I also wasn’t feeling it. Like, there was something off about it. It would require so much more ‘effort’ to sit and make a YouTube video whereas with blogging, if I wanted to write something I just could… I wouldn’t have to worry about looking perfect or getting the right angle, I could just let my feelings flow. I originally started my blog to document my life in the journey of getting over my ex… success since I am well and truly over him, so I guess I have him to thank for having this blog in the first place 😉 I can’t really say what surprised me the most, really, because I just had no expectations when it came to blogging. It just fell into my life and now, I love it forever & just… I just love having this space on the internet to write about what I want to write about, connect with so many amazing people etc etc. So I guess, what surprises me looking back, is how much this blog means to me. *side note, totally not opposed to doing YouTube again in the future… I may have a video coming sooner than you think 😉

What inspires you the most? – This is a great question but another I struggle to answer. I guess just my life and my goals, I just want to be happy and make a better world, so I guess the love and hope for a happier world inspires me. I started a life coach course a few weeks ago and since then, I’ve been focusing on living my best life so I can inspire others to live theirs. I want everyone to be happy, to enjoy life, to know that THEY have the power!!!! So I think, what inspires me the most is my own joy, being happy in life because life is a gift, and being a light to others. I’m a strong believer that the happier we are ourselves, the more happiness we can gift to the world.

If you could teach every single person on this earth one thing, what would it be? – Self love. I have a goal to create a whole self love course, and I would love to teach self love in schools too. Honestly, if I had been taught how to love myself when I was a teenager, if I had been introduced to the world of self love, positive affirmations, etc etc, I just… I don’t want to say life would have been better or whatever, because I’m here exactly where I’m supposed to be now because of my experiences growing up, however, I was such an insecure teenager, so I just think it’s so important that we are taught to love ourselves from a young age, to truly love ourselves, because it would make such a difference in the world. That, along with meditation. Imagine how different the world would be if these things were taught in schools. We’d form better relationships, better relationships with ourselves, and go forward into adulthood confidently. I’m not saying it would make adulthood easy, but it would make such a difference. Even for adults, I just want everyone to understand and know the importance of loving ones self. It’s SO IMPORTANT. We simply must be our own best friends, because we have to live with ourselves forever. A big key to happiness is self love, because if you’re happy in yourself, you’ll be happy wherever you go.

What is one blogging tip you want to share with your followers? – Engagement and consistency is key. Engaging with your fellow blogging community is so important, share their posts, like their posts, comment on their posts and make friends. The blogging community is one of the most supportive I know, I have made genuine connections and friendships through blogging which is the biggest blessing of all. Blogging is so much more than views, though, which totally thrill and excite me, engagement is key!!! You want people to support your blog right? You gotta show that same love and support to others, you’ll thank me for it because trust me, you will make the best friends. Be genuine, be authentic, and follow your intuition. Write about what excites you, don’t put pressure on yourself and just enjoy it. It’s supposed to be fun after all.

What are 3 things you do everyday that bring you joy? – I love my morning routine, which is filled with journaling, scripting, meditations, the lot (I’ll be sharing this on the blog in the next couple of months or so), singing, speaking words of love, mirror work and affirmations. Nothing feels better than looking at yourself in the mirror, smiling and repeating affirmations. I’m also loving playing Rollercoaster Tycoon at the moment too… 😉

  4. What you said about YT, so true. Getting the right angle, lighting everything, at least to me, was so time confusing and stressful, and don’t even get me started on editing LOL. I decided to stop doing YT videos a few months back, and even more so when the pandemic started. I feel like this year has given me an insight into what triggers my stress and anxiety and trying to keep up with YT was one of them. Letting go of things that no longer bring you joy, so to speak..

You are truly inspirational and you are definitely a guiding light in my life! So keep doing whatever you’re doing ❤

Thanks for nominating me, I'll go ahead and answer your questions here:

What’s your favourite quote & why?

"Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors where there were only walls". – Joseph Campbell

I initially heard "follow your bliss" in one of my favorite emo/punk songs like 10 years ago, I was really intrigued in where the artist had gotten that from so when I looked into it I came across the full quote. It was amazing to me back then that a quote could speak to me so much. Mainly because I also believe in the universe, LOA and all that.

    Where is your ‘happy’ place?

I don't have a happy place. Not literally at least.. I like to think that my happy place is a mental headspace, where I'm fully in the moment, content.

    *
Who is the most inspiring person YOU know and why?

I'd say it depends. A lot of people inspire me on a daily basis, you for instance, reminding me of self-love. Some fashion bloggers when I want to do a fashion post. MUAs when it comes to makeup. I would say it depends on what I'm wanting to do or what I'm thinking about.

One person does come to mind though, in terms of life and philosophy; Alan Watts. He was way ahead of his time. And one of my favorite lectures was when he said:

"So in this way, by seeing that nothingness is the fundamental reality, and you see it's your reality. Then how can anything contaminate you? All the idea of you being scared, and put out and worried, and so on, this is nothing, it's a dream. Because you're really nothing. But this is most incredible nothing. So cheer up!"

The only reason I can recite that whole thing is because part of that lecture/speech was included in an EDM song I really love that brought joy and vanished some fear in me years ago when I had my first panic attack and was struggling with anxiety. It may be a bit weird to say that those words kind of saved me back then.

What’s your favourite song to listen to that puts you in a good mood instantly?

Ooof, that is a hard one. I cannot live without music, in fact I must listen to it at least for an hour daily LOL. I am constantly finding new songs that I love. But recently, the songs that I have on repeat are the following:

    "For Sure" – Future Islands
    "Gimme Love" – Joji
"Something About You" – Elderbrook & Rudimental

    What made you smile today?

It's really early in the day, but my son just lied to me about what was in his mouth LMAO. So to avoid showing me, he ran away to hide haha. Couldn't help but smile at how sneaky he is trying to be.

Holy moly, this comment is LOOOOOOONNNNNGGGGGG! Sorry!
